Thymulin

Description

Thymulin is a nonapeptide (9–amino acid) thymic hormone that plays a key role in immune system regulation, particularly in T-cell differentiation and function. It is biologically active only when bound to zinc, forming a thymulin-zinc complex that is essential for its activity.

Thymulin has been studied for its ability to modulate immune responses, influence cytokine production, and restore immune function in models of thymic deficiency or aging. It is also implicated in neuroendocrine-immune system interactions, with research suggesting potential roles in inflammation control, endocrine signaling, and neuromodulation.

In research settings, thymulin is often explored in the context of immune restoration, chronic inflammation, and age-related immune decline.
