HCG

Description

HCG is a sexual health research hormone associated with fertility support and testosterone maintenance in men with gonadotropin deficiency. Mechanistically, it mimics luteinizing hormone (LH) at the Leydig cell to stimulate intratesticular testosterone and spermatogenesis; it is a heterodimeric glycoprotein composed of an α‑subunit shared with other glycoprotein hormones and a β‑subunit that confers specificity. Use‑cases vary by protocol and context; see the Research Studies field for primary sources. Also known as: Human Chorionic Gonadotropin; Chorionic Gonadotropin; Choriogonadotropin alfa (recombinant).
