BDNF
Description
BDNF is a cognition research protein associated with neuroplasticity, learning and memory. Mechanistically, it is a neurotrophin that signals primarily through the TrkB receptor to drive synaptic growth, dendritic remodeling, and neuronal survival; altered BDNF signaling has been implicated across mood and neurodegenerative disorders. Use‑cases vary by protocol and context; see the Research Studies field for primary sources. Also known as: Brain‑Derived Neurotrophic Factor; Neurotrophin; mBDNF/proBDNF.
